CELEBRITY INFLUENCE IN FASHION




Celebrity style impacts society, the public people simply watch tv, go to the movies, pick up the latest gossip and fashion magazines or surf the internet. Media influence is an all important factor in today's society.

Examples of how celebrity trends have appeared in the cycle of fashion during the 20th century:

1990's- "The Rachel haircut" introduced to the TV screens by Jennifer Aniston. A trend now seen on the likes of Kate Moss and Rachel McAdams



1960's- The Little Black dress (LBD) made famous by Audrey Hepburn on the silver screens. A now must have item for every women's wardrobe.



The 1950's- Red carpet fashion. The Glamourous, beautiful film people, such as Grace Kelly strike a pose with the most desirable evening gowns. Today red carpet fashion is still one of the most important events for designers and the celebrities.



The 1900's- Fashion magazines such as Vogue began their publications. Today, they still remain a top source for fashion and celebrity influence.



The 1990's- 'Sex and the City' fashion, made famous by TV character Carrie Bradshaw and friends. Nowadays TV personalities like Whitney Port of MTV reality program 'The City' are being 'coined' as the new 'Carrie Bradshaw' with her quirky fashion, big city life and career.



1980's- Magazine publications love to cover every aspect of 'Royal News...and fashion'. What started with every eye on Princess Diana has now turned to Princess-to-be Kate Middleton. Times have changed, but the fashion remains slightly the same!
