Sustainable Fashion
For the past couple of weeks in class we have been focusing on sustainable fashion and eco friendly + loving designers!
Top points for those designers out there who keep us well dressed and environmentally friendly at the same time.
All students were asked to bring in 3 pieces of old clothing to be chopped, hacked and completely modified to create a new sustainable outfit in the pressure test!
Each group then picked a designer of this category and created mood boards suited to the particular designer.
From here we chose a few garments from the recycled pile and the pressure test began!
Here is a quick little rundown of eco friendly thread maker, Lisa Gorman:

Thought for the day
" Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing" - Alexander Wang
"In fashion, you're either in.....or you're out"
Fashion is full of contradictions with either crazy colour or cool, calm, collected cream. To help you out here is a rundown of the top 10 in fashion trends of 2011.
IN:
- ‘Seeing the Light’- A clean sweep for white, make it modern with sharp precision cuts
Block colour + Neon Brights’- A new way to brighten up your day
- ‘Suits You’- Black, white and cool all over. The mens classic, just as good for the ladies.
- ‘Stripe Dreams’- Be brave and clash your stripes for a strong , eclectic statement
- ‘Sports day’- not just for the kids, mix smart tailoring with slouchy track pants and primary colours that pop!
- ‘Summer Vintage’- Lighten up, pop on a summer wedge and some retro vibe separates.
- ‘Luxe Tux’- Channelling the iconic YSL ‘Le Smoking Suit’, masculine, androgynous yet sultry and sophisticated
- ‘Ballet Scene’- A la Natalie Portman in the Black swan, float away with mid length sheer skirts and a classic ballet pump.
- ‘Prints Revolution’- Quirky patterns = bold statements- thankyou Muicca Prada!
- ‘Mid Length’- Introducing the new and improved hemline with the return of ladylike dressing. Skirts on the rise.
